These were a special request but a bit of a challenge. How could I keep the slanted elliptical rim while creating a resting spot to hold chop sticks? I didn't want to cut a clunky rectangle out of the side wall because it would ruin the gentle elegance of the ellipse. Here is the solution. I really like the way they stack too. Well, it didn't take long to sell my first cubicle teapot. They were quite fun to make so I may have to produce more. The only trick is to make the holes in the spout large enough so that the glaze doesn't clog the pour. I like drinking loose leaf tea, so these little guys are perfect!

Well, my summer is in full swing in the studio which matches the state of my garden. My spinach is overgrown and my flowers are in full bloom. I think that this must have inspired me to start making a few more versions of my bud vases. I love the tapered mouth and the drips of this one. I have been so busy in the studio and just realized that I hadn't posted any pics of the completed clocks. I am pretty pleased with the results and have a few more just waiting to be glazed. Here it is! I have finally finished my first ceramic clock. This is just a small 5 1/2 inch face but it is working smoothly for my first prototype. The sky is the limit now! I was a bit concerned about the shrinkage rate and warping issues of the clay but I shouldn't have worried. I love clocks without numbers. Wow, I am finding out that I have so many addictions! The latest is hand made soap from Etsy. I love those new scents like White tea with Ginger. This may be a bit off topic but I love sharing good ideas. I buy Handmade as often as possible but sometimes it just doesn't work for some of those people on my Christmas list. This is one of my favorite gift fairs in Toronto. I will be selling there on Dec 8th and 15th. I have been busy making gift soap tray sets since they sold out last year. Make sure you come early in the day for the best selection of colors. It runs noon to 6pm at the Transac Club. I get most of my holiday shopping done there too!

Well, November snuck up on me. The weather is still beautiful and the Autumn leaves are just turning but I have been in the studio thinking about the holiday season. Here is a sneak peak of a new design for me. Each ornament is a bit different from the next just like a real snowflake and they look pretty hanging from the little juniper tree in my kitchen!

What a treat it is to get my hands on a box of fresh new clay. I have been reclaiming all of my scrap pieces for the past few months so I haven't played with fresh clay for awhile.
